Meningococcal meningitis is also an aerosol borne bacterial infection. There was an epidemic in Nepal in 1983. Vaccination apparently has played a role in controlling this problem now. In meningitis there is inflammation of the covering of the brain (i.e. the meninges). Intravenous antibiotic may save lives.The disease can be rapidly fatal.
